start with a shared office and add cafe culture
is an idea that I've been infatuated with for some time even though it has been something that I couldn't take advantage of because of job situations. I love the idea of being a big room around smart and creative people getting things done. Who wants their own office or to be stuck in a cubicle anyway?
Over the past few years I have taken days where I would step away from the office and spend an afternoon working somewhere locally with wifi. Panera, Starbucks, and other corporate spaces really were our only choices in Johnson City for quite some time. So I'm excited that Co-Working has come to the Mountain South, both in Johnson City and over the mountain in Asheville.
In Johnson City, Jose Castillo has gotten a space in the heart of Downtown in a really cool renovated building to setup the mark room the spark plaza. Jose's history with the idea of co-working goes deep... like to his grandparents kind of deep. Check out his intro video and get in touch if you are in Johnson City and are interested. Maybe we'll see each other there.

Asheville too is getting on the Co-Working map. Lance Ball has had Locomotivity in the works for a while now and I think many of us were excited for him when this came across Twitter:
If you are in Asheville you should head over to
for pics of the space and info on how to get in touch with Lance.
