I'd like to run a "civil forum"

Yesterday while at the gym jogging I was watching CNN.  And listening to The Walkmen, so it was more like I was reading CNN.  Either way I was checking out the Civil Forum put on by super mega califragilistic evangelical preacher Rick Warren for the two presidential candidates.  Ever since I've been asking myself "Is this relevant?  Really?"

I'm sure to some people it is.  Those who hold their Christian faith really really close I'm sure found this enlightening and good for them.  I'm not going to say anything bad about that or take anything away.  But for me, I'm more worried about ideas to make the country better... and that does not involve  how many times a day a person prays.  I actually don't care if they pray at all.  Their religion is theirs and their business.  I want to know about how they'll help the economy, get us out of this war, and help my numerous friends having issues getting/affording health insurance.

So I started wondering when the other forums are coming?  Does the Dalai Lama get to do one?  Or some Islamic mullah?  When is the atheist forum or the flying spaghetti monster forum?  Why isn't that just as relevant?

So I'd like to run a civil forum.  Ask some real questions.
  • Ever get really drunk and wake up with no clothes?  How did you figure your way out of that?
  • Ever pull off a trip to the local strip club with your boys without your lady knowing about it?  Do tell!
I kid!  I kid!  But seriously I want to know about a person's ability to think on their feet.  When the poop starts to stink I want to know the prez can get me out of it... not drop to his knees and start praying.

Would I think any less about Obama or McCain if either had found themselves in either scenario?  Hell no.  They are human and we all do crazy stuff.  Do I think some of nutty stuff I did in my early twenties affects my ability to carry out my job on a daily basis now?  Nope.  In fact it makes for good stories.
